Ultra rare WW2 mosquito bomber propeller 6519A-18
Here we have for sale one of the rarest and most desirable propeller blades out there - A Hamilton Standard 6519A-18 fitted to DeHavilland Mosquitos and Avro Lancasters, Later “Mossies” and “Lancs” were fitted with a Packard made Merlin engines built in the United States of America, these slightly more powerful Merlins were fitted with these performance paddle-type blades which utilised that extra power.
This particular propeller has been painstakingly polished front and back taking over 40 hours to achieve a perfect finish, It has then been mounted on a custom made base finished in PRU blue (Photo Reconnaissance Unit blue) and topped with a highly polished aluminium plate
The Mosquito aircraft and Photo Reconnoissance Units are often considered unsung heroes but this propeller pays tribute to the brave men who flew these daring early-hour missions, with no guns or armour and who gathered such vital intelligence.
