Giant Hamilton Standard Propeller blade 6559A-18
This very rare propeller blade is the same blade as fitte to the Curtiss XBT2C Experimental Dive/Torpedo Bomber and as far as we are aware it was made exclusively for that aircraft type. Developed during World War II this aircraft was based on the XBTC dive bomber but used the slightly less powerful Wright R-3350 radial engine, it could carry a second crewmember in the rear fuselage as well as radar in a pod under the starboard wing. Only 9 out of the 10 aircraft were built and they were the last aircraft supplied by Curtiss to the U.S. Navy, sadly all were scrapped in the late 1940s.
As usual with propellers from Aeroart, this prop has been chemically stripped to remove all the paint and then painstakingly polished on both sides to a mirror finish, it has undergone 18 stages of sanding and five stages of polishing to achieve a perfect flawless finish.
Shown here on our “Jet black” base with a polished Copper and aluminium top, colour can be changed to most standard colours and can be topped in either aluminium, brass or copper - please enquire for details.
